Counsellings

It was a moment of great joy for us to be with Sr. David, who enlightened the students and motivated them to work hard.

Personal counseling by Sr. Gabriel for students to practice values , discover their talents and provided emotional support to them.

PARENTING CHILD IN DIGITAL WORLD, this seminar was lead by an international organization on 2nd Aug ’14. It changed dogmatic mindset of parents also and taught easy way to handle today’s child. It was really a splendid seminar organized by school.

CAREER

Interactive talk and career counseling by Mr. Jatin Malhotra (CA) was organized by school for COMMERCE STUDENTS which proved helpful as it provided a broader view for career opportunities for students to select desired field.

Another session was organized for HUMANITIES & MATHEMATICS STUDENTS by the initial designers of JAIPUR METRO and ARCH ACADEMY of designing which emphasized on designing streams through exhibition. This was a wonderful learning experience for students.

AWARENESS

The school organized Anapana meditation session for class X . Mr. Satynarayan Goenka and Mrs. Asha accompanied by a team of seven. Students learned less time consuming meditation technique. This helped them in building peace in their minds and increasing concentration to help them in academic as well as other curricular activities.

A good theatre can change your life , seen on 14th and 15th when more than hundred parents willingly attended theatre put up by Father Anand’s skilled team from Varanasi. They also performed Nukkad Natak and interacted with students and taught them values ,and promoted nationalism. It was indeed a task to be appreciated as it was a bright step to aware society.

War Against Rape in co-operation with AISEC India, delivered a session to students of IX, X, XI & XII. Where student interacted with other students from different countries like Korea, Hungary, Australia, Italy, Japan. It was arranged by an ex-Sophian Ms. Sapna Purohit , it helped students to deal with different situations and raise voice against crime.

INTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Sophia bagged 2nd prize in dance competition organized by Subhod Public School, on Halloween theme.

Akshita Joshi of class XII secured 1st position in debate competition organized by Neerja Modi School. She spoke with the motion on topic: Academic education a prerequisite for success.

CLUB ACTIVITIES
ENGLISH CLUB

A feather was added to the already glittering cap of Sophia as, English Excellence Day ‘CRESCENT’ organized by English Club on 19th July, 2014. Dr. Jonu Jose and Dr. Swati Dhanwani lecturers in Kanodia College graced the occasion as guests of honor. Students from 14 different schools participated in various events. The programme started by offering prayers and petitions to the Almighty. Prayer service was followed by various interesting rounds the monologue, Test Your Grammar, spell bee and the literature quiz . The running trophy was bagged by our school St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School, but being the host school the trophy was was passed to Sawai Man Singh School. The aim of the programme was to motivate students to enhance their language skills. In the end English club secretary Ms. Juveria delivered the vote of thanks. The function was concluded by Sister Principal’s speech.


THE HUMANITIES DAY

The Humanities Day was celebrated on August 5, 2014. Dr. Nimali Singh, Dr. Shobha Dubey and Dr. Reshma Boolchandani graced the occasion as the judges .The theme of the day was SPECTRUM. The participants of 11 different schools were given a warm welcome; There after, the event started with lighting of the auspicious lamp and a prayer song which was followed by offering prayers and petitions to the Almighty Lord. “The world is a world of multiple intelligence”,keeping this view in mind various competitions were organised . The competitions were Extempore (English), “Swarachit Hindi Poetry”, Poster making and caricature Designing, on the spot costume designing and presentation. The theme of this competition was Halloween. The competition was followed by a PowerPoint Presentation competition on the topic Integrated “India: Unity In Diversity.” The prizes were given at the end of the event. Sr. Principal enlightened the students and congratulated all the participants. The event was a great success!


NCC ACTIVITY

NCC Club activity was organized by Mrs. Anshul Sharma (NCC in charge) for class IX, X & NCC Cadets. Former NCC in charge Mrs. Vani Niddhi was invited. She explained the students the true meaning of discipline, shared her experiences and interacted with the students. She also motivated them to include civil services for future option. Students came to know more about selection procedure for camps like ATC (Annual Training Camp), RDC (Republic Day CAMP) and all the students participated in the activity with zeal and enthusiasm .This was a great experience for the students.

To celebrate this everlasting uniqueness of Science, the Science Club of St Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School organized Aryabhatta Interschool Science Quiz 2014 on 8th of August this year. The theme for this event was “ASTRONOMY: Journey through the Cosmos”.

The Occasion was graced by Retd. Prof. PRABHA DASHORA as the Chief Guest and Dr. USHA CHANDRA as the Guest of Honor.

The Program Began with Prayer Service followed by Lightening of the Lamp. The Science Club President rendered a formal welcome to everyone.
The event comprised of Two Competitions
 Debate Competition
 Aryabhatta Interschool Science Quiz
15 Schools participated in this event. The topic for the Debate was “EXISTENCE OF ALIENS: Myth or Reality”. The first position was bagged by SAWAI MANSINGH VIDHYALAYA and the Participant received the running trophy for the Debate. The second position was secured by MITALI DUSAD of 12th C of St Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School.

A written Qualifier round was conducted in order to select 4 Teams for the main Quiz. The main Quiz had 5 rounds . The first position was bagged by students of St Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School. The winners are DIVYA LASHKARI 11th C, NEEFEEN KHAN 12th C and BHOOMIKA SHARMA 12th C. The running trophy for the Quiz was passed to St. Anslem‘s Sr. Sec. School, Mansarovar who were the First Runner Ups. The day came to an end by the words of Wisdom Bestowed by the Chief Guest and Sister Principal followed by Prize Distribution.

The Program was a Great Success.


Commerce Day

The Commerce Day was celebrated on 12th August 2014.

The theme for the day was puzzles & riddles. The program started with lighting of auspicious lamp and prayer service. Followed by qualifying round for quiz. Out of 14 schools 4 schools were qualified for the quiz round which, included various sub rounds based on the theme along with the activities based on Indian culture and practical life. The running trophy was bagged by St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School but being the host school the trophy was passed to Sanskar School . The aim of the program was to encourage the students to apply commerce in practical life and understand the importance of commerce. The function concluded with Sr. Principal‘s speech.


Math Day

The math day was celebrated on 13th August 2014. It was an intra school activity. 11th & 12th math sections participated in the house wise activity. Four houses were grouped as mathematical symbols alpha α, beta β, gamma ϒ and mega Ѡ. The day started with a video prayer. Followed by 1½ minutes written round for participants. A presentation was given on magical mathematics by Shaniya Tomar of class XII. Quiz included buzzer round, visual round and rapid fire round. Team Ѡ Sapphire won 1st prize and team β emerald 2nd prize. The program concluded with Sr. principal’s speech.


INDEPENDENCE DAY

Sophian family celebrated Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm on 15th August 2014. Rt. Rev. Bishop Oswald Lewis graced the occasion as guest of honor. Followed by prayer service and flag hosting. A small cultural program was set up by primary section, middle section and secondary section. Rt. Rev. Bishop Oswald Lewis and Sr. Helen distributed prizes to the passed out students for academic excellence in class XII board examination 2013-2014, which motivated other students to work hard in field of academics. The school environment was filled with patriotism. A feeling of love and respect for our motherland is prevailed in every heart. In the end Himadri Pareek of class XII delivered the vote of thanks.


PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

Photography competition was organized by Photography Club on August 16, 2014. Mr. Ramesh Sir and Ma’am Shefali graced the competition as guests of honor. Students from class IX to XII participated in the competition. The winner of the competition was Swapnil Jain of class X. The aim of the program was to enlighten the students about photography and motivate them to take photography as their profession. In the end Photography Club President Ms. Vasundhara Gulati delivered the vote of thanks. The function was concluded by pinning the batches of President to Ms. Vasundhara Gulati and Secretary to Ms. Shanya Tomar by Ma’am Jyoti Johnson and the trophies were given by Sister Principal.


TEACHER’S DAY

The Teacher’s Day was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with welcoming the teachers and pinning them the badges. The programme began with the prayer service. The students from class H.K.G to class XII presented songs, dances & skits with zeal and enthusiasm. The members of students’ council felicitated the teachers with saplings and cards as a token of gratitude and love towards dearest sisters and teachers. There was a movie which was made by students. The students added on to various messages thanking teachers. The teachers were overwhelmed on seeing the movie as good memories were recalled, the day had an emotional an recreational touch. Sr. Principal congratulated the teachers and thanked students’ council for their efforts.


MANAGEMENT DAY

The Sophian family celebrated the Management Day on September 13,2014¬¬ to appreciate the hard work of Sistersthroughout the year. The day began with plantation proceeded by welcoming and pinning the badges. The programme incepted with lighting of the auspicious lamp followed by the prayer service. Along with the students of primary, middle and senior sections the teachers also presented dances & songs as a mark of honor. Teachers and members of students’ council felicitated Sisters with bouquet, saplings & cards to thank them for their selfless service.


OUTREACH PROGRAM

On October 4, 2014 USM members from St. Angela Sophia School visited a child care home, ‘TAABAR’. TAABAR is a philanthropic non government organization which was established in 2007 and endeavors in extending helping hand to orphans, runaways, street children, slum children and misguided youth by providing community based rehabilitation. The students interacted with the inmates, presently living at TAABAR society Baal Basera. Their innocence and touching stories brought our students closer to this social problem and motivated them to help them. Two students from our school decided to teach these children twice a week.


CLEANLINESS DAY

St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School observed “Swachta Divas” on October 9, 2014 as per the order of the Prime Minister. The staff and the students did the cleaning of the school premises with love and dedication. “It was unique experience to do manual labor just to be one with our peons who do it lovingly every day” said one of the students. This cleanliness drive will be carried out by the school authority as and when needed.


JAAGRATI FOUNDATION

Mr. Anil Triphati, an NRI, who has selflessly worked at different places by rendering his services to bring about awareness among people, visited our campus. As a member of Jagriti Foundation he has contributed a lot to educate people to make India hygienic & healthy country. He and his team from Norway suggested to adopt new mechanism to dispose waste material by using different coloured polybags usage of underground bins v/s open surface bins, which is a threat to us, with zero maintenance cost.
