Campus News for the month of July 2016

Summer camp for NCC students

The NCC cadets of our school participated in various competitions held in the summer camp from 5th June, 2016 to 14th June, 2016.Our cadets grabbed second position.

Workshop for Teachers

Two days workshop was conducted by Rev. Fr. Sunny Jacob a great educationist and counsellor, for the teachers of our school on 28th and 29th June, 2016. Father focused on the teaching Ethics.

Workshop for students by MBTI

A workshop was conducted by Brother Sunil Britto organised by Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which works to bring in self awareness among the children and youth in India. Various activities were conducted to evaluate self. It was quite interesting and fruitful seminar. The students of IX to XI actively participated in the workshop and enjoyed all the activities.

Workshop on Media Literacy

On 14th July, 2016, four girls Kriti, Nainika, Ananya and Money of class IX and XI attended a workshop on Media Literacy conducted by Fortis Hospital .Students participated and enjoyed all the activities conducted during the day.

Inter School Competitions

A group of students of class IX to XI participated in Rock Band Competition and Rajasthani Dance Competition in Swai Mansingh Vidyalaya on 28th July, 2016. Both the groups bagged the fourth position and got certificate of appreciation for participating in the event.

NEW BEGINNING BRING
NEW ASPIRATIONS

The new session 2016-2017 commenced with a new zeal and enthusiasm. It dawned on 29th March 2016.A special prayer service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Prasad who prayed for the good health of the staff and students of the school.Prayers and petitions were offered in memory of Rt. Rev. Bishop Fortunatus Henry Caumont founder of Mission Sisters of Ajmer(MSA). Our Principal Sr. Ramona welcomed all and delivered an encouraging speech with words of wisdom.

SEMINAR ON CHILD ABUSE

A seminar was conducted by Mrs. Pramila Sanjay for the school staff on "Child Abuse". Mrs. Sanjay tried to throw light on the children facing physical and mental harassment. She also acquainted the teachers the ways to combat with these problems by being guide and connector. Many videos showing child abuse were shared . It was an eye opener for the teachers.

SEMINAR ON "ECOLOGICAL BALANCE"

A seminar was conducted by Rev. Fr. Prasad on the importance of Ecological balance for the students of classes VI to VIII.

SEMINAR ON TIME MANAGEMENT

Mrs. Sunali Bhatra under the banner of Ratna Sagar Publications enlighted the students of classes IX and X on 2nd April,2016.

YOUNG CHEF INDIA COMPETITION

Kritika Bagra of class XII E qualified the preliminary round of "Young Chef India " on 19th April,2016 in which 350 students participated.

SEMINAR ON CHALLENGING AREAS IN ENGLISH CORE

Mrs. Archana Vyas and Mrs. Susan Anto attended a capacity Building programme on challenging Areas in English Core class XII organised by CBSE on 22nd and 23rd April, 2016. Mrs. Archana Vyas is selected as the Master Trainee to conduct seminar for CBSE Schools.

SEMINAR ON CAPACITY BUILDING

Mrs. Aditi Das and Mrs. Pinky Saha participated in a two day capacity building programme conducted by the CBSE.

SPECIAL PRAYER SESSION

On 23rd April, 2016, Sr. Alice took a special prayer session for the staff. she led them to prayer and thanked the Almighty for the love and care we received from GOD.

Initiation Ceremony

As per the tradition of Sophia, the Initiation ceremony was organized on 30 April 2015 for the session 2016-17. Head Girl-Harshita Sharma and the other members of the student council were entrusted with their respective duties and offices. They pledged to abide by the rules of the school and do their duties loyally and diligently. The Head Girl delivered the speech promising on behalf of the Council to do all that is expected out of them. Deputy Head Girl –Ananya delivered the vote of thanks.

Labours Day

In honour of those who make our lives easy by helping in day to day activities, Labours Day was organized on May 1, 2016. Various programmes were organized for their entertainment and gifts were given as a token of appreciation for their work.The function organized by the school management was successful in its aim of putting a smile on the faces of our workers.

With heavy hearts we bid adieu to our dear Sisters Sr. Amy, Sr. Fabina and Sr. Sejal. The school organised a special prayer service and cultural programme to commemorate their dedicated services to our institution.

Akash Institute

Akash institute organised a workshop for the students of class IX and X on 6th August, 2016. They focussed on the meaning of success in one’s life and acquainted with many options in career.

Oxford University Press

Mr. Rajan Arora, a well known career counsellor conducted a session for the students of class IX and X on 10th of August, 2016 under the banner of Oxford University Press. Various career options for all the streams were well expounded to the students.

Activities to celebrate
70th Independence day

To commemorate the struggle of the Freedom Fighters, the school organised role-play, patriotic songs and dance on famous Patriotic songs for the students of class VI, VII and VIII. Class IX and X portrayed the freedom struggle by means of charts. Class XI and XII presented their patriotism by delivering inspiring speeches in hindi and english respectively on 10th and 12th August,2016.

Independence Day celebration

The 70th Indian Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show. Dr. Chavi Kabra, Head of Biology department B. Lal Group Health Sciences. She is an Ex- Angelite. She appreciated all the performances put forth for the day and encouraged our students by her words of wisdom. Our Principal Sr. Ramona delivered a speech urging everyone to work for the welfare of the people which would thereby result in the welfare of the nation. The school management distributed chocolates after the end of the programme.

Inter School
Nukad Natak Competition

A group of girls of class VIII represented our school in Nukkad natak competition held at Neerja Modi School on 17th August, 2016. The group bagged fourth position and got certificate of participation. The theme was “Ek Naavi Sab par Bhaavi Phir Bhi Haavi.”

Inter School Quiz and Shlok Chanting Competition

Some students of class IX and X participated in inter school quiz and shlok chanting competition in Neerja Modi School on 19th August,2016 Eliza of class X stood fourth in quiz and Kanvika Sharma of class X bagged second position in shlok chanting and was awarded with a trophy.

Maths Quiz (XI-XII)

Maths day was celebrated in St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School for classes XI-XII with great zeal and enthusiasm. A qualifying round was conducted from which 5 members from each house were selected. During the quiz there were 5 rounds , namely- written round, visual round, buzzer round, rapid fire round and treasure hunt round. In the treasure hunt round, participants were supposed to find a hidden treasure by solving mathematical questions and cracking cryptic clues. Team “Trigonometry” bagged the first position followed by team “Geometry” bagged the second position and team “Calculus” and team “Algebra” secured the third and fourth position respectively. Contestants and participants were given prizes in the presence of Rev. Principal Sr. Ramona and Vice-Principal Sr. Daisy.

AryaBhatta Science Quiz

The Science Club of class XI and XII organised Intra School Science Day on 19th August,2016. Students competed in various events which included Face Painting, Debate on the topic “Humanoid Robots, Boon or Bane”, Poetry recitation on science, role play and the Aryabhatta Science Quiz. It was very innovative and informative. The efforts put by the students were praise worthy. Our Principal, Sr. Ramona appreciated the efforts put forward by the students and teachers. The events of the day concluded with the distribution of Pizza and frooti.

Intra School Humanities Day

The Humanities club organised a memorable day for the students of Humanities stream on 20th August, 2016. Each and every student participated in the various events organised for the day like Political leader role depiction, ancient costume designing, Ramp Walk, Presentation, Pop-Art, Poem Recitation, Poster Making and many more . Mrs. Asha Sood, Mrs. Santosh Sohajpal, Mrs. Seema Parmar and Ms. Kamini Simlot, the Ex- Teachers of the institution were invited to grace the occasion. They appreciated the efforts of both the teachers and the students. Each event motivated and encouraged the participants. In the end, refreshment was distributed to the students.

Inter School English Excellence Day

On 23rd August, 2016, The English Club of our school organised an Inter School English Excellence Day. 14 reputed schools of the city participated in the various events conducted by the club. The events Minute-To-Win-It, Spin-A-Tale were a huge success.A short PowerPoint Presentation was prepared which highlighted video related to english. Four qualifying teams participated in the quiz. Each round of quiz was very informative hence everybody enjoyed it. Our school grabbed First position and the trophy was awarded to the First Runner –Up i.e. Jayshree Periwal High School. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Preeeti sharma , faculty of Kanoria College and Ms. Jonu Jose, the Guest of Honor, faculty Kanoria college were spell bound witnessing the events and encouraged the students by saying that such activities must be conducted by schools to improve the standard of English. The day ended with a happy note with Mc. Donald Burger and Frooti distributed to all participants. Each participants enjoyed to the fullest and explored the treats of english language.

Session on Breast Cancer

On 26th August, 2016 an informative session on “Breast Cancer” was held in our school auditorium. Dr. Uttam Soni highly experienced oncologist briefed to teachers and students class XI and XII. He briefed the causes, prevention and medication and gave all the necessary facts related to Breast Cancer.

Visit to Arch Academy

The students of class XII (Humanities) visited Arch Academy o n 30th August,2016 , to attend an interactive session on Design technology. Various techniques of designing were demonstrated. In totality it was a great experience as they came to know about the option of career in designing.

Teacher’s Day Celebration

The students celebrated Teacher’s Day on 3rd September as a mark to say “Thank You” to the selfless services put in key for the teachers .Cultural programmes were organized by students which brought in the memories of every teacher their childhood days. Gifts were given by Sisters followed by refreshments.

Teachers picnic 5th September, 2016

The management took the teachers for an outing to Golden Palace and resorts on 5th September 2016.It was a day when teachers were away from the closed enclosure of classrooms walls, all for themselves. The place was a treat to the eye and the food was sumptuous. Sisters organized various games to entertain the teachers. Teachers danced to the tunes of the latest music numbers of Bollywood.

Girl Child Day Celebration on 8th September, 2016

The birthday of Mother Mary on 8th September is celebrated as Girl Child Day. The celebration started with the reading from the Bible and prayers were said. A beautiful song, followed by Nukkad Natak was presented to convey the significance of Girl Child, need for educating and empowering girl child , were depicted by the students. It was concluded by recitation of Beautiful poem which inspired all.

JAIPUR DIOCESE CELEBRATES SAINTHOOD OF ST. TERESA : A feast to the soul and eyes

The Diocese of Jaipur celebrated “Sainthood” of St. Teresa of Calcutta by putting up a splendid exhibition in the life, vocation and achievements of Mother Teresa at St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec School, Jaipur. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Edward Oliveria Principal of St. Anselm’s Pink City, Jaipur and Sr. Sangeeta, Manager, St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School. The students of various schools visited and were motivated by the life of St. Teresa of Calcutta. The people were overwelmed to see the dedication and devotion of St.Teresa of Calcutta towards the needy and destitutes.

The Exhibition also exhibited the various pictures of St. Teresa meeting with dignitaries like Rev. Pope Francis II, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth II, Amitabh Bachchan and so on. The Diocese of Jaipur is indebted to Rev. Fr. Victor Principal of St. Anselm’s Mansarovar and Mr. James for their selfless service to make the exhibition a grand success. St. Teresa of Calcutta is an epitome of love, compassion and mercy and sophian family is happy to be the host of this great event which began on September 28, 2016 to October 4, 2016.

A grand celebration was organised at St. Xaviers Sr. Sec. School, Jaipur on September 25, 2016 to celebrate the sainthood of Mother Teresa .The students of St. Angela Sophia Sr. sec. School Jaipur gave an awesome dance performance. The dance was choreographed by Dr. Raagini Dharamveer Eshwar. The performnace was praised by each and every one.

Campus News for the month of November, 2016

Childrens Day

Every year the school holds Children’s Day in the memory of our Late Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. This year we had a special morning assembly on 15th November, 2016to commemorate Children’s Day.The Principal Sr. Ramona and the teachers organised a special prayer service for the students. The teachers entertained them by singing songs and dancing on the latest numbers. The children enjoyed thoroughly and proposed vote of thanks for the programme.

Annual Day Celebration

On 3rd December, 2016 , our school organised its Annual Function to commemorate 90th year of its initiation. It was a Dance Drama with the theme “Mercy Drops”. About 600 students participated in the dances, drama, Annual Report and Opening Chorus. Our Guets of Honour Rev. Sr. Savina Mother General Mission Sisters of Ajmer and Dr. Archana Sharma, Vice- President and Chairperson (Indian national Congress, Rajasthan) and most importantly Ex- Student of our school. Through our dance drama students conveyed the message of Mercy, love and peace. It was a grand success Rev. Sr. Savina acquainted the gathering with the History of our institution and congratulated the students and teachers for the mesmerizing performance. Dr. Archana Sharma a proud Angelite also appreciated the performance of the students and the efforts of the teachers. She took pride in saying that St. Angela Sophia Sr. Sec. School her Alma Mater is the best school in the city . Our Principal , Sr. Ramona Proposed the vote of thanks.

Earn and Learn Project

On 16th December, 2016 , the students of class XI commerce stream organised an Earn and Learn project to learn the importance of Co-ordination in business . Various stalls of eatables, bevearages and games were put up. It was a great success. The students donated 10% of their profit for charity.

Super Annuation of Mr. Jyoti Johnson PGT Sociology

Our school with heavy heart and wet eyes bid adieu to our most beloved teacher. Mrs. D. J . Johnson who rendered 33 years of her dedicated services to our institution. To commemorate her services to our institution. We organied a special Prayer Service and variety of Cultural programme to make it a memorable day fo r her. The programme started with lighting of lamp and prayer Service. Dances by the students of primary and high school potrayed their love for Ma’am. An english play was put up which highlighted Maam’s contribution to the school.Our Principal thanked Ma’am for her untiring contribution to the institution. Ma’am Jyoti also in her speech thanked the Management, Staff and students for their constant support. The school will definitely miss Ma’am Jyoti Jhonson.

NINE IS MINE

On 15th December’ 2016, a seminar was held by Ms. Aastha, who acquainted the students with the campaign of Delhi held every year for the children to fight for their rights. Many schools of the city actively participated in all the activities. She also briefed the children with 54 Child Rights and 18 goals of the campaign of Nine is Mine. The seminar ended by providing the students with sumptuous refreshment

OUTREACH PROGRAMME

Christmas is a festival of spreading joy,sharing, service and charity. Our school always celebrate this festival of love by reaching to the less privileged. On 17thDecember 2016 some students of our school visited Mother Teresa Home, which work for disabled and mentally challenged people. Our students presented Christmas Carols and depicted the birth of Lord Jesus Christ through their tableau. The school management distributed eatables and gifts. They also donated handsome amount for the welfare of the less privileged people.

Christmas Celebration

Christmas was celebrated with love, joyand rejoicement on 22nd December, 2016. It started with prayer Service followed by Carols and scene of Nativity. Father Prasad was the guest for the day. He in his message threw light on the life of Lord Jesus Christ and urged the students to celebrate the festival with less privileged people to give them joy and happiness. Our Principal Sr. Ramona thanked our guests for the day.The programme ended with the entry of Santa Claus. Sweets were distributed to the students.
